QUICK ANSWER
McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. retubes and repairs tubes on firetube and watertube boilers across California. New tubes are installed to the boiler’s original design: rolled and beaded, or rolled and welded. When a retube requires an R stamp repair, McKenna holds the National Board R certificate and handles the repair and the paperwork. McKenna also makes new tubesheets in house: its engineering team draws the tubesheet for the customer’s review, then McKenna fabricates it. McKenna retubes McKenna boilers and other brands. When to retube
Signs your boiler needs tubes.
- Leaking tubes or wet tube ends at the tubesheet or drum
- Tubes thinned by corrosion, scale, or overheating
- Tubes called out on your annual inspection report
- Scale or fouling that cleaning no longer fixes
A few bad tubes can often be replaced on their own. When many are thin or leaking, a full retube restores the boiler’s heat transfer.

What’s included
What a retube includes.

- Tube removal and cleanup of the tube holes

New tubesheets
Tubesheets made in our shop.
When a tubesheet is cracked, wasted, or has tube holes that won’t seal, it has to be replaced. McKenna makes tubesheets in house.
Send us an inquiry with the boiler’s make, model, and serial number, and the original drawing if you have it. Our engineering team draws the tubesheet and sends the drawing for your review. Once you approve it, we fabricate it in our ASME shop. We can install it as part of the retube, or supply it to your crew or contractor. We also make tubesheets for other boiler companies.
