QUICK ANSWER
McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. builds two-pass dryback vertical firetube boilers in Oceanside, California, from 10 to 150 horsepower. Designs cover 15 psig steam and 125 psig hot water under ASME Section IV, and steam at 150 and 250 psig under Section I. Low NOx and ultra-low NOx designs reach as low as 2.5 ppm NOx (corrected to 3% O2) on select models. For boilers of 2,000,000 Btu/hr or less, McKenna has units pre-certified to South Coast AQMD Rule 1146.2. Call (323) 987-1816.

The design
Steam where floor space is short.
A vertical boiler stands upright, so it fits rooms and skids where a horizontal boiler won’t. Not sure it’s the right fit? A McKenna engineer will tell you plainly.
Two-pass dryback
- Combustion gases make two passes, through the furnace and then the tubes, before the stack.
- Dryback turnaround chamber, built in our ASME code shop.
- Standard on every McKenna vertical boiler, 10 to 150 HP.
Small footprint
- Stands upright, so it takes far less floor space than a horizontal boiler of the same horsepower.
- Fits tight boiler rooms and equipment skids.
- Laid out to your room when a standard size doesn’t fit.
Low and ultra-low NOx
- Low NOx and ultra-low NOx designs, as low as 2.5 ppm NOx (corrected to 3% O2) on select models.
- Burner selected to meet your air district’s limit.
- Prefer a specific burner? McKenna also installs and tunes burners and controls from other manufacturers, including a brand your engineer specified.
Pressure and code
Steam at 15, 150, and 250 psig; hot water at 125 psig.
The design pressure and water temperature decide which ASME code the boiler is built to. McKenna holds both the S certificate (Section I power boilers) and the H certificate (Section IV heating boilers).
