QUICK ANSWER
McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. trains boiler operators for plants across California. Training is offered three ways: in the classroom, hands-on in front of the plant’s own boilers, and factory training at McKenna’s shop in Oceanside, California, where operators see how a boiler is built. Training covers daily and weekly checks, blowdown, low water cutoff testing, safe startup and shutdown, reading the combustion controls, and keeping the boiler log, on McKenna boilers and other brands. Family-owned since 1921. Call (323) 987-1816 or email info@mckennaboiler.com to schedule training.

Three ways to train
Classroom, at your boilers, or at our shop.
Classroom
At your site or at our Oceanside shop: how a boiler works, steam and water basics, safety controls, water treatment basics, and the boiler log. The water treatment program and blowdown schedule come from your water treatment company, within the limits in the boiler manufacturer’s manual.
At your boilers
Hands-on in front of the plant’s own boilers, controls, and feedwater system, so what operators practice is what they’ll do on shift.
Factory training
At our Oceanside shop, operators see how a boiler is built: the pressure vessel, tubes, refractory, burner, and controls.
Training can be part of a new boiler startup, a refresher for an existing crew, or onboarding for new operators.
How it runs
How operator training runs.

02
Plan
A training plan built around your equipment and your operators.
03
Train
Classroom, hands-on at the boiler, factory training, or a mix, with a McKenna technician.
04
Follow up
Refresher training when you add operators or equipment.
