QUICK ANSWER
McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. replaces industrial boilers for plants across California, from the repair-or-replace review through removal, installation, and startup. McKenna builds the new boiler in its ASME code shop in Oceanside, California, sized to your actual load and laid out to fit your existing room and connections. The schedule depends on whether a boiler of your size is in stock, the build lead time, and the installation scope, and it’s set in the written proposal. Call (323) 987-1816.
Scope of work
What a replacement includes.
- Repair-or-replace review of the boiler you have, McKenna or another brand
- Load review and sizing, often smaller than the old boiler
- New boiler built to fit the room, door openings, and rigging path
- Burner selected for your air district’s NOx limit, or the burner your engineer specified from another manufacturer
- Removal of the old boiler, priced in the quote
- Setting, piping, controls, and startup by McKenna crews
- Rental boiler, if you need one, to keep the plant running during the swap
- Permit and source test support

Repair or replace
Repair first if it makes sense.
McKenna services and repairs other brands, so the first step is an honest look at the boiler you have. If the shell, furnace, and tubes are sound, a retube, a burner retrofit, or new controls can be the better buy. You get both numbers: the cost to repair and the cost to replace.
When replacement wins, the new boiler comes from McKenna’s own shop, so the company that sized it also builds it, installs it, starts it up, and services it after.
How a job runs
How a replacement runs.
01
Inspect and size
We inspect the old boiler, review your load, and walk the room and rigging path.
02
Proposal
A written scope with the boiler, the burner, the schedule, and the permits the job needs.
03
Build and swap
McKenna builds the boiler, removes the old one, and sets and connects the new one. A rental boiler can carry the load in between.
04
Start up and service
Startup, inspection support, and service for the life of the boiler.
Why McKenna
Why plants replace with McKenna.
We build it
McKenna builds boilers, feedwater systems, and vessels in its own ASME shop.
Built to fit your room
Shell length, diameter, and connections laid out around your existing piping and door openings, so the room needs less rework.
Sized to your real load
Many older boilers were oversized for today’s load. Sizing to the load you have now cuts cycling and wasted fuel.
One company

When the shell, furnace, or tubesheets are worn out, when repairs keep stacking up, or when the boiler can’t meet your air district’s NOx limit even with a new burner. McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. inspects the boiler and gives you the cost to repair and the cost to replace, so you can compare.
It depends on whether a boiler of your size is in stock, the build lead time for a custom boiler, and the installation scope. McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. sets the schedule in the written proposal, and a rental boiler can keep the plant running if the swap takes longer than you can be down.
