QUICK ANSWER

McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. designs and builds hot water and steam boilers for building heat and humidification in data center support spaces, ships them to facilities across the United States and internationally, with startup and commissioning in any state, and installs and services them across California. For boilers of 2,000,000 Btu/hr or less, McKenna has units pre-certified to South Coast AQMD Rule 1146.2. McKenna sets up boiler alarms to report to the building management system and services McKenna boilers and other brands. A live person answers (323) 987-1816 24/7.

Data Centers

Heat and humidification for support spaces.

Data centers are cooling-heavy. Some sites still use boilers for building heat in office and support spaces, for steam-to-steam humidification, or for cold-weather heating. The load is small next to the cooling plant, and it still has to work every time.

We size the boiler to the real load, set it up with the controls your building management system can see, and keep it maintained on a schedule that fits a site that runs around the clock.

What matters

What a data center boiler room needs.

Right-sized equipment

Boilers sized to the real heating and humidification load.

Controls integration

Boiler controls that report status and alarms to the building management system.

Scheduled maintenance

Service planned around the site’s change windows.

Emissions

Equipment that meets air district limits, with an eye on electrification.

Codes and rules

Air rules for small boilers.

Data center boilers are often under 2,000,000 Btu/hr, the size range where South Coast AQMD Rule 1146.2 and the Bay Area’s Regulation 9, Rule 6 set zero-emission dates. For boilers of 2,000,000 Btu/hr or less, McKenna has units pre-certified to South Coast AQMD Rule 1146.2. For larger boilers that need air permits, McKenna supports the permit and source test, and retrofits ultra-low NOx burners when a boiler can’t meet its limit.

Those zero-emission dates are one reason sites are planning for electric heat now, and we can plan a replacement path that fits.
