QUICK ANSWER
McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. is a factory-authorized Autoflame Tech Center that installs, commissions, tunes, and services Autoflame controls for plants in Los Angeles and throughout California. McKenna sets up Mk8 MM and Mini Mk9 controllers, EGA analyzers with O2, CO2, and CO trim, and Mk8 DTI monitoring. Autoflame controls come as a standard option on new McKenna boilers. McKenna also installs, sets up, and tunes burners and controls from any manufacturer, including a brand an engineer or contractor already specified. Call (323) 987-1816 or email info@mckennaboiler.com to schedule a site survey.
Linkageless control
What Autoflame controls do on a boiler.
A linkage burner sets fuel and air with one jackshaft and a set of cams. As the linkage wears, the fuel-air ratio drifts, so the burner is set up with extra air to stay safe. The Autoflame Mk8 MM replaces the linkage with separate servomotors on the fuel valve and air damper, and each position is set point by point across the firing range.
Add an EGA and the controller trims the air damper or fan VSD from live O2, CO2, and CO readings in the exhaust. Add a DTI and the plant sees each boiler’s firing rate, pressure or temperature, and alarms on one screen or in the building management system.
California air districts limit NOx and CO from boilers, including South Coast AQMD Rules 1146, 1146.1, and 1146.2, San Joaquin Valley APCD Rules 4306 and 4320, and Bay Area Air District Regulation 9, Rule 7. The burner sets how low NOx can go. Autoflame controls hold the fuel-air ratio the burner was tuned to, so emissions stay steady between tests. See AQMD & Source Testing or estimate fuel savings with the Linkageless Controls Savings Calculator.

Capabilities
What McKenna does with Autoflame controls.
- New McKenna boilers: Autoflame controls come as a standard option, commissioned by McKenna at startup
- Retrofits: linkage burners converted to Autoflame control on existing boilers from other manufacturers
- Commissioning: fuel-air curves set point by point for each fuel with a combustion analyzer
- EGA trim: O2, CO2, and CO trim set up and checked against a portable analyzer
- DTI monitoring: up to 10 Autoflame systems on one screen, a local PC, or the BMS
- Sequencing: Autoflame lead-lag set up across the boilers in one boiler room
- Service: annual service, troubleshooting, and emergency calls on existing Autoflame systems
- Parts and upgrades: Autoflame parts, and replacement of older controllers such as the Mini Mk7

How a job runs
How an Autoflame job runs.
01
Site survey
A McKenna technician checks the burner, fuel train, boiler controls, and the plant’s emissions limit, then sends a written scope and quote.
02
Installation
McKenna mounts the controller, servomotors, and any EGA or DTI, and completes equipment wiring to the disconnect.
03
Commissioning
McKenna sets each fuel’s fuel-air curve point by point with a combustion analyzer, then sets up and tests trim and sequencing.
04
Handover and service
Operators get a walkthrough of the controller. McKenna then handles annual service, tuning, and calls when a boiler locks out.
