QUICK ANSWER
McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. designs and builds steam boilers for industrial and commercial laundries, ships them to plants across the United States and internationally, with startup and commissioning in any state, and installs and services them across California. McKenna sizes boilers and feedwater systems for the fast load changes of ironers, tunnel washers, and dryers, builds them in its ASME code shop in Oceanside, and services McKenna boilers and other brands. Rental boilers keep the laundry running during a repair or retube. A live person answers (323) 987-1816 24/7.
Industrial Laundries
Steam for every machine on the floor.
Industrial laundries run steam to tunnel washers, flatwork ironers, dryers, and presses. When several machines call for steam at once, the boiler has to recover fast, and steam pressure at the ironer has to hold.
Laundries use a lot of makeup water and often return little condensate, so feedwater, blowdown, and condensate return make a big difference in fuel and tube life. We size the whole boiler room, not just the boiler.

What matters
What an industrial laundry boiler room needs.
Fast recovery
The boiler and burner have to keep up when every machine calls for steam.
Steady ironer pressure
Pressure at the ironer holds so the line keeps moving.
Water and blowdown
Feedwater and blowdown equipment set up to protect the tubes. Your water treatment company sets and checks the chemical program and blowdown, within the limits in the boiler manufacturer’s manual.
Condensate return
Ironer and dryer condensate piped back to the boiler room saves fuel, water, and chemicals.
What we do
Designed, built, and installed by McKenna.
New systems from our own shop, and service and repair on the boilers you already run, including other brands.
New boilers
Firetube, firebox, and vertical boilers built in our ASME code shop, sized for the peak when ironers, washers, and dryers run at once.
Feedwater and boiler room equipment
Feedwater systems, blowdown tanks, and condensate receivers, sized for a laundry’s high makeup water.
Steam trap audits
Traps on ironers, dryers, and presses tested and tagged, with a report of failed traps and replacements installed by McKenna.
Service and repairs
Maintenance, combustion tuning, retubes, and R stamp code repairs on McKenna boilers and other brands, scheduled around wash shifts.
Codes and rules
Laundry boiler codes and air rules.
New boilers are built and stamped under the ASME code in our shop, installed to the California Mechanical Code, and inspected for the Cal/OSHA permit to operate before they go into service. Laundry boilers cycle hard, so McKenna tests the low water cutoffs, safety valves, and flame safeguard at startup and at every maintenance visit.
A laundry boiler that runs full shifts every day won’t qualify for an air district’s low-use exemption, so it has to meet the full NOx limit. When a laundry boiler can’t meet that limit, McKenna retrofits an ultra-low NOx burner and supports the permit and source test.

It depends on the machines, how many run at once, the steam pressure the ironers need, and how much condensate comes back. McKenna Boiler Works, Inc. sizes the boiler and feedwater system from that load.
